"Better now than never"

I, Alan Porreca, was born in Philadelphia, PA. in July 1947. I have three sisters. I am the youngest in my family. We moved to Washington, D.C. in October of 1949. I found out about my Cerebral Palsy and deafness when I was 7 years old. I accept the fact I have C.P. and deafness. I went to Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, MD. No one made fun of me because there were four other C.P. and deaf children. I graduated from that school in 1968. I have been working at the National Association for the Deaf in the mailroom for 29 years. I married Patty and we have a daughter, Priscilla. At first, I was slow in typing. I was frustrated with computers. I finally learn how to use it. I love to travel. I enjoy meeting other C.P. and deaf people. I am happy to be part of the group.
